Sydney
The fun capital of New South Wales. Home of the 2000 Olympics. Visit the Sydney Opera House. Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Cruise the beautiful harbour. Soak up the atmosphere of one of Australia's most vibrant cities.
1. Hunter Valley & Coast
The Hunter is famous for its world class wines and vineyards but the region has much more to offer as well. See world heritage rainforests, rolling hills, glistening coastlines, meandering countryside, even dolphins at play.
2. Central Coast & Hawkesbury
Whether you're after beaches, forests, mountains or lakes, the Central Coast has it all. An easy 1 hour drive north of Sydney, the Central Coast is the ideal destination for a relaxing weekend away.
3. Holiday Coast

4. Lord Howe Island

5. Tropical North Coast

Experience the alternative lifestyle of world-famous Byron Bay and take the scenic walk to Cape Byron, Australia's most easterly point and an excellent place for whale watching.
6. New England & the North-West
North-Western NSW, the "New England" region has plenty of varied attractions. Visit the university town of Armidale with its beautiful tree-lined streets and elegant homes. Tamworth, Australia's Country Music Capital, hosts the annual music festival each January. Photograph the 'Golden Guitar' and see wax replicas of favourite country artists. Relax at the Artesian Spa Baths in Mooree or enjoy a walk in one of the area's national parks.
7. Central West
The Central West region of NSW is 'Explorer Country'. Visit the picturesque town of Hill End, an old gold mining village preserved as a reminder of the gold rush of the 19th century. Tour the wineries of Mudgee, a town rapidly gaining a reputation for its boutique wines and gourmet food. Come face to face with wild animals at the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo or stroll through the beautiful Japanese Gardens in Cowra.
8. Blue Mountains

9. Capital Country
This rich pastoral region abounds in attractions, both natural and man-made. Tour Goulburn with its elegant 19th century buildings, watch a shearing demonstration and take home a souvenir from the Big Merino. Re-live the glory of the gold-rush days in Braidwood, a beautifully preserved village classified by the National Trust. Yass, famous for its merino wool, is now becoming known for its cool-climate wines. Pick your own cherries in Young or visit during the town's Harvest Festival.
10. Southern Highlands & Illawarra
This region encompasses the coastal areas of Wollongong, Kiama as well as inland to the Southern Highlands. Visit Bowral, with its beautiful gardens & tulip festival. Bowral is also the home of the Bradman Museum. Tour the historic towns of Berrima, explore Kangaroo Valley & Fitzroy Falls. Browse through the regions many arts & crafts shops, antique shops and galleries.
11. The South Coast
The South Coast of NSW has it all. Fabulous beaches with some of the whitest sand in the world. Lush rainforests and rolling hills. Fishing villages with succulent seafood. Native wildlife in their natural habitat. Visit Eden, a former whaling town and now a major whale-watching location. From Narooma take a boat ride to Montague Island, home to colonies of fairy penguins and fur seals. The seaside town of Merimbula offers excellent surfing, fishing and prawning as well as hosting a country music festival each October.
12. The Riverina
This fertile area is one of Australia’s richest agricultural regions. A gourmet’s delight it produces stone fruits, poultry, dairy products and grapes. Griffith is home to many excellent wineries, the inland city of Wagga Wagga is a major cultural centre, while the town of Hay contains many fine 19th Century heritage buildings.
13. Snowy Mountains
Australia’s alpine country is a great destination all year round. In winter the ski resorts of Thredbo and Perisher attract skiers from all over the country. In summer enjoy bushwalking in Kosciusko National Park, fishing for trout in Lake Jindabyne or simply admire the brilliant wildflowers that cover the area. This diverse region, ‘the roof of Australia’ is a delight in any season.
14. The Murray
The great Murray, Australia’s most important river, was a major trade route during the days of the early settlers. Today it provides a marvellous recreational playground with water sports of every kind and visitors can still ride the grand old paddle steamers that once plied the river. Albury, the major regional centre, has many fine heritage buildings. Deniliquin is known for its merino sheep and Corowa is a favourite with golfers, for its attractive riverside course
 

 

15. The Outback
The rich colours and rugged scenery of the NSW outback have inspired many artists and film makers. Visit Broken Hill, with its massive mineral wealth and the historic town of Bourke, synonymous with the outback. The stunning National Parks, Sturt, Mungo and Mutawintji, preserve the region’s beauty and the history of the indigenous people.
